Barcelona, Spain - LG Electronics, a worldwide technology leader in mobile communications, announced that its LG-KU250/U250 handset, a sleek and slim 3G mobile phone, was selected this year for the GSM Association’s “3G for All” campaign by a consortium of the twelve largest mobile operators during 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona, Spain.
The aim of the 3G for All projects, sponsored by the GSM Association (GSMA), is to make third generation mobile networks and services available to a much wider user base. It does this by lowering costs for handset makers and their component suppliers by leveraging common requirements across operators and enabling economies of scale.
“LG is very excited about collaborating with GSMA to lead the ongoing evolution and development of 3 G technologies worldwide,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Through this partnership, we will bring all people closer to new mobile capabilities and they will benefit from higher-quality wireless multimedia 3G services. LG will provide them with attractive and feature-rich 3G devices while at the same time breaking price barriers for subscribers in the global market.”
